SENIORS CONSIDERING DOWNSIZING

Downsizing to a condo or a smaller home is a huge challenge for so many seniors. In most instances they want a smaller place but with a big quality of life, a place where it’s easy to walk out the door to be active or meet a friend, somewhere close to family and friends and in many cases near the same community where they had put down roots. I understand that senior homeowners have different needs, different financial means and different options available to them then do traditional homeowners.

Even the youngest of today’s seniors can recall a time when correspondence came in the mailbox, not in an email or a text message and phone calls had to be made and received at home.  You don't find much of that in today's mobile-dominated environment where text messages pass for conversation and e-signatures have replaced the ballpoint pen. Many seniors still prefer to handle their business in this “old school” way, in-person, with a handshake and a smile. I am both willing and comfortable with conducting business this way.

Logically, many seniors  know that downsizing is the right move. Yet letting go of the family home (and all the treasured possessions that won’t fit into their new, smaller property) can feel like they are losing those precious memories. I understand and counsel senior clients through the emotionally difficult process of selling the family home.

If you are considering selling your family residence I can evaluate your home, find problem areas and suggest home modifications before putting the property on the market. I'd love to meet you and answer any questions you may have. The links below provide details of how I service my buyers and sellers.
